Senior Thesis Getting Started Meeting and Lunch - Faculty and seniors will meet to begin our discussions and get ourselves oriented for the coming term and year. At each date below, writing needs to be turned in to advisors and the work will be discussed at the lunch meeting.
Planning Statement - A one-to-two page statement of research question and progress up to this point in the work, with indications of key writings being used. Give the research plan, methodology, theoretical ideas being engaged in the thesis and a timetable for completion.
Progress Report - In a two-page status report, the student gives tentative findings, or describes how the current work leads to tentative results, with an indication of the line of thinking that gives the findings their import. The student should assess the progress in meeting the timetable.
Progress Report - A two-page summary of the status of the student's work on the thesis is to be presented to the department chair, signed by the senior thesis advisor.
First half of thesis due - A draft of approximately the first half of the thesis is to be turned in to the thesis advisor(s) with clear indications of direction and where the thesis will end up.
First Draft Due - Present full draft to advisors; discuss it at the lunch. With Spring Break on March 16-20 and Cesar Chavez Day March 27, we had to be flexible in our scheduling -- Note that this one is a Thursday.
Final Draft Due - The student will present one copy of the final draft to the thesis advisor(s) to be graded; a copy should also be left with Ms. Gail Orosco. These copies should have been carefully proofread prior to presentation.
JUNIORS - Thesis Contract - Signed by the student, his or her regular academic advisor and thesis advisor(s), this form is to be presented to the department chair with copies to the thesis advisor(s). Click here (PDF).
