History of Anthropology at the College
We believe that John Landgraf was Pomona College's first Anthropology major. He is pictured here with Mary Elmendorf (herself an accomplished anthropologist; John was her second husband).
Dorothy Lee tutored John in Anthropology (her husband Otis Lee, held a position in philosophy at the College). Landgraf was later to found the anthropology program at NYU.
